The Canal Check: Which of Your Five Memory Channels Is Talking?

Core path · Experiment 10 of 20

CORE PATH

Right now, think of a mildly charged situation from this week — difficulty 3 out of 10. A snub, a worry, an awkward exchange. Bring it up gently…

Now scan the five canals, one by one:

S — SENSATION: where does your body react? Heat? Tightness? Nothing? ______

I — IMAGE: any picture or flash? A face, a room, a moment frozen? ______

B — BEHAVIOR: any urge? To leave, defend, fix, flee, punch, cry? ______

A — AFFECT: what emotion, if named? Anger, shame, fear, sadness — or static? ______

M — MEANING: what’s the story sentence? “He always…” / “I ruined…” ______

Now look at your answers. Which canal carried the MOST charge? Which carried almost none?

Check the pattern against your history: people typically have one dominant canal and one offline canal — the loudspeaker and the dead wire. Loudspeaker-M people analyze everything and feel little; loudspeaker-S people feel floods they can’t narrate. Which are you? Does the pattern show up everywhere once you look — arguments, memories, decisions?

Conclusion: you are not one voice with a volume problem. You are five channels with a switchboard problem — and as of today, you can see the switchboard. Every tool ahead names its canal. Match medicine to canal, and watch failure rates fall.

Closing formula: the body does not speak English, the images do not speak in paragraphs, and the feelings refuse to fill out paperwork — but all five testify about the same events. Heal the translation, and you heal the case.

Next chapter: the Toxic Cycle — how trigger, exile, manager, firefighter, and shame chain together into the loop that runs your worst hours… and where its six interruption points hide.

If you feel flooded: feet on the floor, eyes open, name five things you can see, breathe out twice as long as you breathe in. That is skill, not failure. This site is education, not therapy — in crisis, contact local emergency services (US 988 · FR 3114 · QC 811).
