Settled Nervous System

Interrupt the Toxic Cycle at the Cheapest Point

CORE PATH

This week, your cycle WILL run at least once — that prediction is free and reliable. Your assignment is singular: execute the mercy interrupt at Stage 5, once.

When you catch the morning-after shame wave starting its closing argument — literally raise a hand, physically, palm out, at yourself…

Say aloud or silently: “Stop. That was protection, not evil. The method failed, not the person. One lap only. No second lap.” Then — this is the active ingredient — do ONE small repair-or-care action: drink water, step outside, wash the dishes from last night, text one apology IF owed. Care completes the interrupt; refusal alone leaves a vacuum the Critic refills…

Check afterward: did the spiral stop at one lap? Compare with previous episodes’ depth. Single-lap storms are already a different species from triple-lap ones — shorter, shallower, survivable without a lost weekend.

Conclusion: you cannot yet stop the first lap — that takes Chapter 10’s descent. But the second lap was always optional. Refusing it, weekly, teaches your system the sentence that eventually dissolves cycles entirely: storms end, and I remain.

Closing formula: your suffering has a choreography — same dancers, same order, same exits. Choreography can be learned by the audience. Learn it, and you stop being the dance.

Next chapter: the vertical descent — the book’s central method, walking from behavior all the way down to the wounded child and back up changed.

If you feel flooded: feet on the floor, eyes open, name five things you can see, breathe out twice as long as you breathe in. That is skill, not failure. This site is education, not therapy — in crisis, contact local emergency services (US 988 · FR 3114 · QC 811).
